The benefit of an external playlist is that you can change your content and playback settings without modifying any source files. You will need Flash authoring software if you want to modify the size and layout of the player, alter the colors, add skinning elements, or modify the source files.
Major Features:
- Transitions through a series of MP3 tracks.
- Uses a simple XML playlist to control track order, duration, location, title, and other playback parameters
- Supports ID3 metadata for the duration and title of each track (or specify this information in the XML)
- Supports single MP3 playback without the XML file
- Uses built-in playback controls with configurable width and color parameters
- Configurable playback parameters include autoplay, looping, nav and volume button options, title and image placement, etc.
- Optional JPG, SWF, PNG, and GIF image support for each track (only the first frame of an animated GIF will be loaded)
- Optional thumbnail and text preview list is clickable and configurable (e.g. set the background, rollover, selection, and scroll bar colors)
- Supports FlashVars and JavaScript for dynamic XML and single MP3 loading (see "Additional Examples" for more info)
- Tracks how many times each MP3 file is played using Google Analytics (see "Additional Examples" for more info)
- Supports multiline captions for each track (text and location specified in XML and formatted using CSS)
- Includes configurable FLA files compatible with Flash 8 and CS3 Authoring Software
- Includes installable MXP file compatible with Flash 8 and CS3 Authoring Software
- Includes published and ready-to-use SWF files supported by Flash Player 8 and 9
- Includes component source files (AS and FLA) compatible with Flash 8 and CS3 Authoring Software
- Small footprint means fast loading and minimal bandwidth usage (published SWF as small as 12 kb)
